Case Study: Building a Scalable Content Architecture

Organization: Nessy Learning | Role: Content Architect & Lead Producer

  • 1. The Challenge: Bridging the Gap

Nessy Learning possessed deep Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in dyslexia education but lacked a framework to translate that knowledge into a scalable digital platform.

The Goal: Design a repeatable ecosystem where pedagogy, IA, and video production work in perfect sync.

The Problem: High-level concepts were “trapped” in SME brain, creating a bottleneck for the dev team.

  • 2. The “Translator” Role (SME & IA)

I acted as the bridge between international expert Neil Mackay and the technical output. I didn’t just write copy; I mapped a mind.

    • Gap Analysis: Audited learning objectives against technical platform constraints to eliminate UX “dead ends.”
    • Interactive Mapping: Collaborated with Neil to turn abstract concepts into a functional Content Map.
Strategic Production: I directed, filmed, and edited this series to serve as the narrative anchor for the platform, ensuring the SME’s expertise was translated with technical precision.
  • 3. ContentOps: Building the Engine

To prevent “content debt,” I built the “rules of the road” for the entire production lifecycle.

    • Module Taxonomy: Designed a progressive learning path where each module builds logically on the last.
    • Full-Stack Production: I personally directed and edited 100% of the video library, ensuring the visual hierarchy matched the UX framework exactly.
    • Asset Logic: Established naming conventions and version control for hundreds of assets to prevent fragmentation.
  • 4. The Solution: The “Single Source of Truth”

I transformed the abstract map into a functional digital environment using a rigorous Design-to-Dev handoff.

    • Information Architecture: Built interactive mockups in Miro to map the journey from login to certification.
    • The Blueprint: Authored a “Single Source of Truth” document for developers, containing all site requirements, metadata, and file locations.

  • 5. The Impact

    • 100% Asset Alignment: Zero lost assets or versioning errors during site launch.
    • The New Standard: This workflow is now the “gold standard” for all future Nessy training programs.
    • Repeatability: Reduced technical debt and eliminated the “SME-to-Production” bottleneck.

The Theory Behind the Work: The logic used to architect this dyslexia platform was an evolution of my research into modular content ecosystems. You can see the foundational theory and mental model mapping in my Master’s Thesis Case Study
